The Cranberry Village Story

Want to know more about Cranberry Village? Just ask someone who lives here.
Cranberry Village opened in the mid 1970s and has grown over the years into a 280-site, resident-owned manufactured home community. But that transition didn't happen right away. We decided to transform the way our community functions by becoming a resident-owned community in 2012. That's when, with the help of Cooperative Development Institute and ROC USA, LLC, we formed the Cranberry Village Residents Association that would, on June 22, 2012, purchase and take control of our community.
Now, Cranberry Village is not only a successful business, but also a thriving neighborhood. The process of the cooperative buying the land beneath our homes brought this community closer together. Not only do we know far more of our neighbors than ever before, but we look out for one another, too. And with no outside landlord to report to, we're the envy of other nearby manufactured home communities.
Our member households elect our board of directors, which works with a property management firm and also appoints various volunteer committees to help with special projects, celebrations, community improvements and more. The board submits a budget every year, and the entire membership votes on it and any changes to the rent before the budget becomes official. Our rent has decreased since becoming a ROC -- something about which we're not only happy, but also proud. We're running the multi-million dollar business that is our community on our terms, by our rules, for the betterment of ourselves and our neighbors.
Cranberry Village couldn't be better situated. Carver is beautiful and a great place to interact with nature. There are lots of places to go fishing, hunting and camping. Our community even has a senior center where residents and their families can hold events or come to exercise or pass time with neighbors. Carver is known for the delicious cranberries that grow abundantly here - that's why we're the home of Ocean Spray. We are a 55+ community, that's always peaceful and just a short drive to Plymouth. The closest grocery store is only five miles away and we have bus services to help take seniors around to doctors appointments, shopping, downtown Plymouth and other great places.
Since we voted to become a resident-owned community, we have worked hard to improve our community. We've put up new signs, planted flowers, upgraded our community office and more. Our social committee holds events throughout the year, which always include fundraisers, cribbage club and weekly bingo.
Ask anyone who lives in Cranberry Village, and we're sure they'll tell you it's a little slice of heaven.
